LFW finale: Kareena Kapoor wows in a Manish Malhotra sari, reflects on her fashion journey – from ‘walking ramp as size zero or with Taimur in my belly’ | Fashion News

The Lakmē Fashion Week 2025 X FDCI finale on Sunday evening was — as anticipated — a grand affair, with the who’s who from the fashion and entertainment fraternity in attendance. But the moment that truly stole the show was when Kareena Kapoor Khan made a stunning catwalk appearance and reminisced about her fashion journey.

“I do everything with my heart. Whether it was walking the ramp when I was size zero or with Taimur in my belly, or whether it was, you know, size 10 or 12, that never really mattered. What mattered was my heart. My heart was on stage…was with each and every designer that I walked for, and also in my confidence. Thank you Lakme, for having me..I enjoyed my time,” said the 44-year-old, who looked ethereal in a Manish Malhotra sari with Swarovski and pearl embroidery that was paired with a vintage French lace blouse.

However, what really touched hearts was her appreciation of the efforts of the numerous artists and people associated with the event.  “Yes, I am honoured to be the face of Lakme, but 25 years of Lakme Fashion Week is not about us actors walking the finale. It is about each and every one of them who have been backstage. We owe it to them. They make us look amazing,” she added.

“Of course, all our smashing amazing designers, my darling friend, brother Manish (Malhotra), Tarun (Tahiliani) and everyone but tonight should also be about each and every person who has worked for the 25 years to make us all look amazing on the ramp,” she continued.

During the day, Kalki Koechlin walked the ramp in a white printed frock from Max’s Sicilian Summer & Amalfi Escape collection.

Inspired by Italy and its vibrant culture, the outfit was all about “escape and travel and the sort of summery, light feeling that you have when you go on holiday”, Koechlin told ANI.

Earlier, Janhvi Kapoor’s walk grabbed all the attention as she strutted down the runway for designer Rahul Mishra. Unlike fashion showcases that end with the arrival of the showstopper, the Dhadak actor’s dramatic entry in a car with models posing as paparazzi to take her best pictures, won applause. Her ensemble was concealed under a large overcoat before the 28-year-old revealed her outfit of the day: a black body-hugging gown with a thigh-high slit and sweetheart neckline crafted from Bandhani print fabric.

Meanwhile, Tara Sutaria and Veer Pahariya turned showstoppers for the British fashion brand ASOS’s ‘A Summer of Style’ collection with AJIO, with Tara wearing an all-black floor-length lace gown with a plunging neckline, and Veer complementing her in a white suit and double-breasted jacket.

“I love fashion, I love style. For me, anything that suits my body type or the vibe of the brand (I’d choose that)… I’m quite happy with anything that suits that. It could be a lehenga, a sari or a gown like I’m wearing. It could also just be a T-shirt and shorts or jeans,” she told PTI.
