Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh trended well in its first week as Thursday collections came to Rs. 3.60 crores. On Wednesday, the film had brought in Rs. 3.78 crores, so this is quite stable, in fact. Also, if one compared with the opening day collections of Rs. 7.84 crores, then too Thursday is around 50% of that. Further considering the fact that it was a partial holiday on Friday, then the numbers look even better because in fair value the drop is only around 30%.
That said, the real game is from here for the film to not just stay over Rs. 3 crores mark today but then go well past Rs. 5 crores mark tomorrow. If that indeed turns out to be the case, then the second weekend for the film would come across as a good, hence indicating good stability in days to come as well. There are going to be multiple film releases in weeks ahead and hence it’s the second weekend, which will hold most prominence to ensure an overall healthy lifetime total.
So far, the Akshay Kumar starrer has collected Rs. 46.64 crores and if it ends up crossing Rs. 50 crores milestone today itself, then that would be even better. It would also mean that the trend on Saturday and Sunday would be all the more healthy. For an A certificate film with a niche theme, this Karan Johar production has done well to reach till here and what it does from here would be of very good interest.
