The wave of spiritual tourism in India has reached unprecedented heights in 2024. A user-generated poll posted by one of the users on social discovery app Hunch, provided insights into the GEN-Z’s preferred destinations for spiritual tourism in 2024.
The poll asking for the preferred destination for spiritual tourism in 2024, garnered responses from 3754 participants, revealing Kedarnath as the top choice with a substantial 39.9 per cent of the votes.
Amid the anticipation surrounding the forthcoming inauguration of the Ram Temple, Ayodhya has clinched the second position with 36 per cent of the votes. This recognition is attributed to the city’s historical and religious importance as the birthplace of Lord Rama.
Haridwar and Rishikesh followed closely with 13.5 per cent of the votes, offering a blend of spirituality and nature along the banks of the Ganges.
With a growth rate of 19.34 per cent and 159.69 lakh visitors till September 2023, Kerala Tourism is setting stage to revolutionise its offerings. Tourism Director P B Nooh detailed aggressive strategies including the launch of ‘Sky Escapes’ heli-tourism and four international adventure events. The state also aims to develop thematic circuits and elevate its wedding tourism and cruise tourism aspects; all forming a part of Kerala’s 2024 tourism promotion agenda.
Varanasi, with its ancient charm and spiritual ambiance, captured 10.7 per cent of the votes, solidifying its place as a timeless destination for seekers of enlightenment and mental peace, the poll revealed. It also mentioned that the allure of spiritual retreats, yoga ashrams, and sacred temples has transformed India into a beacon for those in search of inner peace and higher consciousness.
Pilgrims and tourists alike are drawn to the spiritual vibrancy that permeates the air, making it a prime destination for those seeking not just a getaway, but a transformative journey of the soul, the poll stated.
