Jeep Meridian price, limited variants discontinued, engine, features, rivals

The Meridian now gets a total of five variants with the line-up starting with the Limited (O) trim.

Jeep India has discontinued the base variants of the Meridian SUV. The line-up now starts with the Limited (O) MT variant, instead of the Limited MT variant. Prices for the updated Jeep Meridian line-up now start at Rs 32.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

Jeep Meridian: new variant line-up

With the discontinuation of the Limited trim, the Jeep Meridian is now offered in Limited (O) and Limited Plus trims. The former gets the option of either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox. While the manual only comes with a front-wheel drive drivetrain, the automatic has the option for a 4×4 drivetrain as well. The top-sped Limited Plus trim comes with either a front-wheel drive or a 4×4 drivetrain with only the 9-speed automatic gearbox. 

Currently, Jeep also sells the limited edition Meridian X and Meridian Upland variants as well. The X is based on the Limited Plus trim, while the Upland is based on the Limited (O) trim. These limited edition variants will be on sale till stocks last. Read more about them here

Jeep Meridian powertrain

The Meridian is only offered with a 2.0-litre, turbo-diesel engine producing 170hp and 350Nm of torque. As mentioned earlier, Meridian is available with a choice of either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox with either a front-wheel drive or a 4×4 drivetrain. 

Jeep Meridian features

It comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It also gets a 9-speaker system from Alpine, dual-zone climate control, a 10.2-inch digital instruments cluster, wireless charging, power-adjustable front seats (only the driver’s seat gets memory function), ventilated front seats and a 360-degree camera. For safety, it gets six airbags, hill start assist and hill descent control (only on 4×4 variants). 

Jeep Meridian rivals

The Jeep Meridian rivals the Toyota Fortuner (Rs 32.99 lakh-50.74 lakh), MG Gloster (Rs 38.08 lakh-42.38 lakh) and Skoda Kodiaq (Rs 37.99 lakh-41.39 lakh). Despite the discontinuation of the base variants of the Meridian, it is still the most affordable option of the lot with its prices ranging between Rs 32.95 lakh-38.10 lakh.
