Nagpur: Around 300 sports enthusiasts and fitness freaks have confirmed participation for the two-day duathlon and triathlon races slated to begin near the Ambazari Garden Lake from Saturday.
India’s longest triathlon race where a participant needs to swim for 5kms before starting a 200km cycle ride and concluding the final part with a 50km run is planned by the finisher of Race Across America Amit Samarth and presented by MOIL Limited.
The two-day event where a total of six different distance category races in both the duathlon and triathlon will conducted carries a prizemoney of Rs 5 lakh. In triathlon a participant or a relay team need to swim, cycle and run to complete the race whereas in duathlon an athlete earns a finishers medal by cycling and running.
While all the short distance races will begin at the NIT Swimming pool on Saturday, all the longest events are scheduled at the Ambazari Garden Lake on Sunday.
On Friday, sport registrations and expo of the multisport races is scheduled at the Ambazari Garden from 11.30am. tnn
