The Indian Army has released the official notification for the 35th Judge Advocate General (JAG) Entry Scheme, scheduled to commence in October 2025. The entry welcomes unmarried male and female law graduates to apply for positions as Short Service Commissioned (SSC) Officers in the JAG branch of the Indian Army. All interested and eligible candidates can apply through the Army’s official recruitment website joinindianarmy.nic.in. As per the official schedule, the deadline to apply for the recruitment process is November 28. The recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 8 Judge Advocate General positions, out of which 4 are for men and 4 for women.
Eligibility Criteria:
To apply for the 35th JAG Entry Scheme, the candidate should have to be between 21 to 27 years old and should be born between July 2, 1998, to July 1, 2004.
Must have passed LLB (3 years or 5 years) with at least 55 percent aggregate marks.
Must have a valid CLAT PG 2024 Score.
Selection Process:
The selection procedure for the JAG 35th Entry Scheme involves several steps including:
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in the CLAT PG 2024 examination.
SSB Interview: Selected candidates will be called for a 5-Day Service Selection Board (SSB) interview, which will assess their physical and mental aptitude.
Medical Examination Round: Those who clear the interview round, must go through a medical examination to assess their fitness.
The final merit list will be prepared based on the applicant’s performance at all the stages and the overall eligibility criteria.
After the final selection, all shortlisted candidates will participate in a 49-week rigorous training program at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai. The training program is designed to prepare candidates for their positions as officers of the Indian Army’s Judge Advocate General (JAG) branch.
Upon successfully completing the 35th course JAG Entry Scheme, the candidates will be appointed as Lieutenants in the Indian Army with a basic salary of Rs 56,100 per month. Along with this, the candidate will receive several types of allowances including Rs 15,500 Military Service Pay. The pay scale for the post of Lieutenant is around Rs 56,100 to Rs 1,77,500.
