India begins countervailing duty probe into CFM imports from Vietnam

India’s Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) recently initiated an investigation into imports of calcium carbonate filler masterbatch (CFM) originating in or exported from Vietnam following complaints of these being imported at subsidised prices in significant quantities for a prolonged period, causing material injury to domestic players.

The complainants are the Compounds and Masterbatch Manufacturers Association of India (CMMAI) and the Masterbatch Manufacturers Association (MMA).

India’s Directorate General of Trade Remedies has launched a probe into imports of calcium carbonate filler masterbatch originating in or exported from Vietnam following complaints of these being imported at subsidised prices in significant quantities for long, causing material injury to domestic players.
Many industries like packaging, construction, automotive and consumer goods use product.

The period of investigation is from April 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, i.e., 15 months. The injury investigation period is April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021; April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022; April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023; and the period of investigation.

Calcium carbonate filler masterbatch is a mix of calcium carbonate, base plastic materials like polypropylene or polyethylene, and other additives. It is used in the plastic industry for enhancement of properties of plastic items. Its main job is to be a cost-effective and ecofriendly filler, imparting specific physical and chemical properties.

Many industries like packaging, construction, automotive and consumer goods use product.
