The objective of the Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Studies is to raise awareness about various environmental concerns
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched the Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Studies programme for the July 2023 session. The university emphasises the need to address environmental challenges caused by human activities and develop a knowledgeable workforce in areas such as climate change, pollution, waste management, sanitation, conservation of biodiversity, management of biological resources, forest and wildlife conservation, and sustainable development.
The objective of the Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Studies is to raise awareness about various environmental concerns. According to IGNOU, this new programme allows lateral entry for MA (Environmental Studies) and promotes the concept of ‘Lifestyle for the Environment (LIFE)’. Upon completion of the programme, learners will be equipped to play crucial roles in tackling environmental and sustainability issues in India and worldwide.
The programme aims to enable learners to restore, protect, and sustain the environment while recognising the interdependence of environmental components. It provides valuable insights to learners, equipping them with the necessary means and capabilities to assess environmental conditions effectively, propose sustainable solutions, and contribute to the formulation of appropriate policies for environmental planning and sustainable development.
