The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing of the NEET PG 2024 result transparency case for tomorrow, January 8, 2025.
The Supreme Court has once again postponed the hearing of the NEET PG 2024 result transparency case. During the hearing before a bench of Justices BR Gavai and AG Masih, Senior Advocate Sanjay Hegde mentioned the urgency of the third round of NEET-PG counselling and requested an early hearing.
The respondent’s counsel informed the court that the third round of counselling had already ended on January 4. Since the bench was already engaged in another case, Justice Gavai said that the court would not be able to hear the matter today and suggested mentioning it again tomorrow.
“Just ask someone to mention the matter tomorrow. If counselling is over, we will dispose of the matter. It’s not like we will order fresh counselling,” he said.
What Is NEET PG Result Controversy?
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test—Postgraduate (NEET PG 2024) was conducted on August 11, 2024, across 416 exam centres with 2,28,540 candidates registered. Following the introduction of a new normalisation process by the NBE, many candidates received lower-than-expected scores, sparking frustration and concerns over result transparency.
After the results were announced on August 23, 2024, students raised allegations of a lack of transparency in the exam process and questioned the operations of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).

Despite multiple requests, the NBE declined to release the answer key, raw marks, and normalised scores, citing confidentiality as a cornerstone of its admission policy.
With no resolution from the authorities, students escalated the matter to the Supreme Court. The primary writ petition seeks the disclosure of answer keys and question papers for the NEET-PG 2024 exam, along with other measures to enhance transparency.
