In an exciting development, Hyundai Motor India is exploring a potential partnership with TVS Motor Company to bring two cutting-edge electric concept vehicles which includes a three-wheeler and a micro four-wheeler to life.

This collaboration could see Hyundai providing design, engineering, and technology expertise, while TVS Motor may handle manufacturing and marketing, leveraging its deep understanding of the Indian market. Together, the companies aim to redefine last-mile connectivity by addressing the unique challenges of urban mobility in India.

Hyundai’s vision for these concepts aligns with its global mission of “Progress for Humanity.” Recognizing the growing demand for efficient and sustainable transportation in Indian cities, the project seeks to empower last-mile mobility with practical, eco-friendly solutions. The concepts aim to not only cater to the needs of commuters but also enhance accessibility for various applications, including logistics and emergency services.

The electric three-wheeler concept reimagines the iconic Indian auto-rickshaw, combining its traditional functionality with advanced design and engineering. This vehicle is envisioned to serve as a people mover, a logistics solution, or even a rapid-response emergency vehicle. Notable features include a foldable seat for wheelchair users, emphasising inclusivity and accessibility.

The micro four-wheeler concept, though still under evaluation, is designed with a focus on global scalability. Its compact form, coupled with innovative features, positions it as a versatile urban mobility solution for densely populated cities both in India and beyond. Hyundai’s micro mobility concepts prioritize safety, comfort, and adaptability, showcasing the company’s expertise in human-centred design. The three-wheeler concept boasts an angled windshield that enhances visibility while improving collision protection. Its flat floor and extended wheelbase maximize comfort for both drivers and passengers, ensuring superior ergonomics and a smoother ride.

Adaptability is a key theme in the design. The adjustable height of the three-wheeler allows it to navigate waterlogged streets during monsoons, addressing one of India’s most common urban challenges. Large tires provide better grip on uneven roads, while the inclusion of a towing hook ensures quick recovery in case of obstacles such as potholes.

Hyundai’s concepts adopt a modular approach to design and manufacturing, allowing for easy customisation and practicality. The interiors feature flexible storage solutions, a slim cluster design for intuitive information display, and pegboard-inspired panels for hygiene and safety. These thoughtful additions cater to diverse use cases, from daily commutes to last-mile deliveries.

While Hyundai and TVS Motor are still in the exploratory phase, the potential collaboration represents a significant step forward in India’s mobility evolution. Hyundai’s global expertise in technology and design, combined with TVS Motor’s manufacturing prowess and market knowledge, could set new benchmarks for last-mile connectivity.

The partnership underlines the companies’ shared vision of creating mobility solutions that are not only innovative but also practical and inclusive. By addressing the unique demands of Indian cities and aligning with the nation’s infrastructure, these concepts have the potential to revolutionise urban mobility and set a new standard for electric vehicles in the region.
