In a tourism department review meeting held yesterday, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated that the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) plans to open three high-end hotels along the Kiratpur-Manali four-lane road in the near future.
These hotels, he shared, will be equipped with modern facilities and have the primary objective of enhancing the tourism experience in the state. To ensure the successful implementation of this project, a consultant has conducted a study to determine the most effective approach.
Sukhu also emphasised the importance of developing infrastructure to promote tourism in Himachal Pradesh. Once the four-lane road becomes operational, there will be a significant increase in the inflow of tourists, he shared.
The CM also stressed that the state government is committed to providing all basic amenities to tourists, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction. The government’s efforts to expand tourism infrastructure and services are not only expected to enhance the overall experience for visitors but also create employment and self-employment opportunities for the local population, contributing to economic growth and development, he expressed.
During a review meeting held at Sukhu’s official residence, the Chief Minister made several other development announcements. In a recent cabinet meeting, it was also decided to establish Highway-cum-Tourist Police Stations at strategic locations along the Kiratpur-Manali National Highway to ensure the safety and security of commuters, shared Sukhu. These police stations will be established at Baghed in Bilaspur district, Nerchowk in Mandi district and Bhunter in Kullu district. Adequate staff will be deployed to effectively carry out the necessary security measures.
Besides the establishment of high-end hotels, the meeting encompassed discussions on infrastructure development and updates on the ongoing projects of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, presented by Amit Kashyap, the Managing Director of HPTDC. The presentation offered detailed insights into the progress and initiatives taken by HPTDC in various areas related to tourism development in the state.
