Honda NX 125, patent filed, India launch details, specs, rivals

Honda has filed a design patent for their NX 125 scooter in India. The scooter was first released in China in 2020 and is powered by a similar powertrain to the now discontinued Grazia.

  1. NX 125 is currently on sale in markets like China
  2. Unlikely to launch in India any time soon

The Honda NX125 boasts a sporty, aggressive design with a front apron featuring dual LED headlamps and sharp cuts along the bodywork, reminiscent of the made-in-India Dio 125. In terms of equipment, it gets fully digital LCD instrument console, two small storage compartments in the front and a USB charging port, and LED tail light and indicators.

The NX 125 is powered by an air-cooled 125cc single-cylinder engine producing 8.8hp at 7,500rpm and 9.7Nm of torque at 6,000rpm in international markets. The scooter is equipped with a telescopic fork and monoshock suspension, complemented by a front disc and rear drum brake setup. With a kerb weight of 106kg and a 6-liter fuel tank, it’s lighter than the TVS NTorq.

Despite a design patent filing, a launch isn’t confirmed, Honda has previously patented several motorcycle and scooter designs, but has not followed up with a launch. Honda is already offering the Activa and Dio in the 125cc segment. If Honda does launch the NX 125, it will rival the TVS Ntorq, and the Aprillia SR 125.
