Honda Goldwing 50th Anniversary edition: What’s new?
Honda has kept the Goldwing mechanically intact while tweaking its aesthetics by offering new colours and badging across the length and breadth of this rather large tourer. This 50th Anniversary edition is available in two body styles overseas along with two transmission options – Goldwing and Goldwing Tour with the option of a DCT or manual gearbox. The ‘Tour’ variant features a rear top-box whereas the standard Goldwing is a bagger.
The model in question here is the Goldwing Tour which is sold in India. The Goldwing 50th Anniversary edition brings in two new colours – metallic red and soft gold. Both the colours feature refreshed graphics along with bold Goldwing logo across the saddles and fairing with a ‘50th anniversary edition’ badging in front of the seat.

Along with all these additions, potential owners will also receive a coffee table book showcasing the lineage and evolution of the Goldwing. Another hark back to the Goldwing’s legacy is a 1:12 scale model which has been split into two parts, with the 2025 GL1800 on one side and the 1975 GL1000 on the other.

For 2025, Honda has also made wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay standard. The current GL1800 was launched back in 2018, it was a complete redesign and was a departure from the earlier curvy design.
Goldwing GL1800 owes its lineage to the first GL1000. Unlike the model we see today, the debutant model featured no fairing and incorporated a flat-four, liquid cooled engine instead of the flat-six present today. The Flat six engine first debuted with the 1988 GL1500 and it has been evolved and improved over the years. Back then, the Goldwing was the first series production motorcycle to feature a six-cylinder engine. In case of a crash, the Goldwing also remains the only bike to feature an airbag system for the rider.

The Current flat six motor displaces 1,883cc and produces 126.4hp and 170Nm. In India, this engine is mated to a 7-speed DCT with an additional reverse gear. There is no option of a manual transmission currently in India, which is offered overseas.

The Goldwing GL1800 in India is priced at Rs 39.70 lakh. We reached out to Honda dealers inquiring about the imminent launch of the 50th Anniversary edition and the dealer’s have not received an official notification regarding the same. It remains to be seen if Honda brings this special edition to India.
