Honda electric scooter, range, India launch details

Honda has released yet another teaser for its upcoming electric scooter for the Indian market, which gives us a look at the two display options that will be available on the EV. There’s a small LCD unit and a big TFT dash visible, of which the latter is identical to the CUV e:.

This establishes another connection between the Indian Honda e-scooter and the CUV e:, besides the motor. What is also visible in the teaser is that the Indian Honda scooter shows a speedo-indicated 104km range with 100 percent SOC.

  1. Indian Honda EV will have a larger battery than CUV e:
  2. Motor, TFT display shared with CUV e:
  3. Will have two ride modes – Standard and Sport

Honda electric scooter: how much is shared with the CUV e:?

We’ve already established that the Indian e-scooter will share its motor with the CUV e:. Now, this teaser tells us that the higher variant will share its big TFT dash with the CUV, too. There is also a smaller, simpler LCD display shown, which will probably be on the lower variant of the Honda electric scooter for India.

However, what is more interesting than the actual display is what’s shown on it – the range figure. The teaser for the Indian Honda electric scooter shows a 104km range figure with 100 percent SOC, while the CUV e: has a 72km range on a full charge. This is conclusive evidence that the Indian Honda electric scooter will have a larger battery pack than the 2.6kWh unit seen on the CUV e:, although the exact capacity is unknown.

Since the Honda electric scooter for India will have a bigger battery pack, it could also debut a new frame or at least a heavily restructured version of the one seen on the CUV e:. It is not yet known whether the Honda EV for India will have a removable battery pack like the CUV e: or a fixed one seen on almost all electric scooters in the segment.

What is also visible on the dash are two ride modes, Standard and Sport, both of which are the same as the CUV e:. The TFT display also has the ability to connect to your smartphone, which will open up the possibility of navigation prompts and notification alerts on the dash itself.

It remains to be seen how different the India-specific Honda EV turns out to be to the CUV e:, with the two already sharing the motor as well as the display. November 27 is when Honda will take the wraps off the electric scooter, so stay tuned for that.
