Hero maxi-scooter price, engine, rivals

The Hero maxi scooter has a sharp and edgy design with an underbone frame.

Hero has patented a new maxi scooter design and while it is quite early, this machine appears to be very different from any commuter-centric scooter on sale today.

With its angular front fascia, sharp body panels and split headlight set-up, this Hero maxi scooter has a very sporty design. The stepped seat is also quite sharply raked, further reinforcing the sporty intentions of this scooter. It also runs on large wheels, which could be 14-inch units.

Underbone frames are quite popular on maxi and sporty scooters sold in South-East Asian countries like Indonesia, but, at the minute, there are only a microscopic amount of scooters with these unique frames in India. This Hero maxi scooter could very well be the first homegrown scooter to feature this sort of chassis.

While no details of the engine are out yet, going by its premium styling, it could have a displacement of more than 150cc. And while it is too early to say, this mill could even feature liquid-cooling. Suspension appears to be quite simple with a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. While it isn’t visible in this design sketch, it is quite likely that there will be a disc brake at the rear too.

Currently, with the surprising amount of success the sporty Yamaha Aerox 155 has been tasting, Hero seems like it will join the fray sooner rather than later.
