Craft driven premium fashion and lifestyle business Good Earth has opened its first ever brick-and-mortar store dedicated to its homeware line. Located in a historic location in Kolkata’s Hindustan Park, the boutique was designed with architects Animesh Nayak and Gaurav Banerjee.
“Welcome Good Earth Kolkata, our first-ever Home Flagship in India,” announced the business on Facebook, sharing photos of the new space. “In Kolkata’s Hindustan Park– where old-world charm colours modern living– a 20th century Bengali bari turns into a muse for Good Earth’s newest home.”
The store has launched with Good Earth’s franchise partner for the venture, Richa Kanoi of Bombaim. The store’s design is greatly influenced by Bengali culture and features glass walls to maintain a classic spirit of openness along with a marble plaque, wooden shutters, and red oxide staircase. Inside the store, shoppers can browse Good Earth’s home decor, home textiles, and other home products.
“Old buildings cannot be kept as monuments, they have to be lived in,” said Open to Sky’s founder and architect Animesh Nayak, Good Earth posted on Facebook. Nayak adapted the historic home into Good Earth’s store with the aim of maintaining its integrity while making it relevant for modern shoppers.
