The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council and the Delhi International Airport Limited are exploring the development of a Jewellery Park Cargo City near Terminal 3 of New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Both parties held a meeting at the GJEPC’s Delhi Regional Office to discuss the proposed project, which aims to enhance logistics and export capabilities for the gem and jewellery industry.

The session was chaired by the GJEPC’s regional chairman for North India, Antarpal Singh Sawhney, and attended by key representatives from both organisations, the GJEPC announced on its website. The GJEPC’s delegation included Anil Sankhwal, Renu Sharma, Ashok Seth, K.K. Duggal, Sanjeev Bhatia, and Sanjay Madaan, while DIAL was represented by Munish Davessar, general manager of air logistics, and Kranti Mishra, general manager of strategic logistics.
DIAL presented plans for Cargo City 1 and 2, which will collectively span 50 acres. Discussions focused on space requirements for GJEPC and its associated offices, as well as the infrastructure needed to support industry-specific logistics.
As part of the meeting, participants conducted a site visit to the GJEPC’s Institute and Laboratory to assess operational needs. Both parties agreed to continue discussions to refine the project’s framework, with further deliberations expected to address logistical requirements and implementation strategies.
