The minister underlined the importance of producing new products with various blends, such as jute with bamboo and recycled cotton with synthetic fibres, for floor-covering and carpet products.
The Handloom Export Promotion Council, a department under the office of the development commissioner for handlooms (Ministry of Textiles), planned the interaction between the minister and the industry in collaboration with the Panipat Exporters Association. Senior officials from the Ministry of Textiles, including Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Dr M Beena, and chairperson of Haryana Enterprises Promotion Centre (HEPC) and head of the Panipat Exporters Association, Lalit Kumar Goel, attended the meeting.
Over 150 manufacturers and exporters from Panipat met Indian Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh to discuss SME challenges in the textile sector.
The minister emphasised innovative blends like jute with bamboo and green energy use.
Industry leaders and officials highlighted export opportunities and urged collaboration to achieve a $350 billion textile market and $150 billion in exports by 2030.
During the factory visits, the minster emphasised on the need to utilise green energy for meeting 100 per cent of the energy requirements of the factories. He suggested the Panipat carpet and floor-covering industries to collaborate with the jute industry of Kolkata and utilise jute as a raw material. He also urged the industries to gear up to achieve the target of a textile market of size $350 billion with exports of $150 billion by 2030, the Ministry of Textiles said in a press release.
In her keynote address at the meeting with industry representatives, Dr Beena briefed on the export potential for various products of Panipat and urged the exporters to utilise the opportunities accordingly.
