German import prices up 0.6% YoY, 0.9% MoM in Nov 2024: Destatis

Germany’s import prices rose by 0.6 per cent year on year (YoY) and 0.9 per cent month on month (MoM) in November this year, but dropped by 0.8 per cent YoY in October and by 1.3 per cent in September, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).

Export prices increased by 1.2 per cent YoY in November, 0.6 per cent YoY in October and 0.4 per cent YoY in September this year. These were up by 0.3 per cent MoM in November.

Germany’s import prices rose by 0.6 per cent YoY and 0.9 per cent month on month (MoM) in November, but dropped by 0.8 per cent YoY in October.

When energy prices are excluded, import prices in November 2024 were 1.7 per cent higher YoY, and up by 0.5 per cent MoM. If only crude oil and mineral oil products are not considered, the import price index was 1.4 per cent higher YoY and 0.8 per cent higher MoM.

The import prices of consumer goods in November this year were 3.4 per cent higher YoY and 0.9 per cent higher MoM, a Destatis release said.

While durable consumer goods barely increased in price compared with November 2023, rising by 1.2 per cent YoY and 0.6 per cent MoM, the import prices of non-durable consumer goods were 4-per cent higher YoY and 1-per cent higher MoM.

Energy exports were 10.6 per cent less expensive YoY in November, but increased substantially by 7.7 per cent MoM.
