There was a good amount of box office expectations for Anil Sharma’s Gadar 2, the sequel of his own 2001 historic blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. But not many would have expected the sequel to achieve the same status as its predecessor. The Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma starrer has gone past the Rs. 450 crores mark in India, which is a phenomenal number.
Along with that, it is now learnt that Gadar 2 also ranks high in terms of the number of footfalls at the India box office. The sequel to the 2001 movie has reached the 17th position in the list of highest footfalls with 30 million footfalls. It has overtaken Rakesh Roshan’s Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan starrer Karan Arjun, which earlier had taken that spot with 29.91 million footfalls.
The three films ahead of Gadar 2 in the list are Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (30.66 million), Tiger Zinda Hai (30.89 million) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (31.17 million). The Sunny Deol starrer has a chance of overtaking these three films if it continues its strong run in the coming days. Interestingly, the first film in the franchise, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, is the third on the list with a humongous number of 50.57 million footfalls.
The first film on the list is Sooraj Barjatya’s Hum Aapke Hain Koun…! with a mammoth number of 73.96 million footfalls. It is far ahead that than the second movie on the list, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which generated 52.52 million footfalls.
