It isn’t everyday that we see a blockbuster hit screens, but in the case of Gadar 2, the film that hit screens last week, this holds true. The Sunny Deol – Ameesha Patel starrer opened on a thunderous note collecting Rs. 40.10 cr on opening day and has continued to maintain its winning streak. In fact, with the business of the film seeing record collections over its first five days, Gadar 2 has now managed to cross the Rs. 100 cr and even the Rs. 200 cr mark at the box office.
In this box office report, we look at the first Wednesday collections of Gadar 2 while comparing the same to previous releases. Collecting Rs. 32.37 cr on Day 5, its first Wednesday the film has now emerged as the all-time highest first Wednesday grosser. It comes as no surprise that the business of the film has managed to surpass previous big-ticket releases like Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion which collected Rs. 26 cr, Dhoom 3 which collected Rs. 25.52 cr, Good Newwz which collected Rs. 22.50 cr, Kick which collected Rs. 21.66 cr, Dangal which collected Rs. 21.46 cr and others.
If that was not enough, when compared to previous releases of 2023, Gadar 2 has managed to perform better than releases like Pathaan which collected Rs. 18.25 cr, and even The Kerala Story which had collected Rs. 12.01 cr respectively on their first Wednesday.
Currently Gadar 2 seems to be unstoppable at the box office, with rave reviews and strong audience feedback the business of the film is expected to see an incremental growth in collections. As of now, trade predictions state that Gadar 2, which has collected Rs. Rs. 261.35 cr in just 5 days look all set to near the Rs. 300 cr mark by the end of its first week in theatres.
