NEW DELHI: On Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron visited the Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah in south Delhi. The dargah is dedicated to the Sufi saint Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya and is situated in Delhi’s Nizamuddin West area.
During a banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu, Macron expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended to his delegation and reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between India and France.He emphasized the unique bond that transcends time and shared values.
Macron acknowledged the exceptional welcome and reminisced about the five years since his last state visit, expressing pleasure at returning to India after the success of India’s G20. He highlighted the deep honor of having French soldiers participate alongside their Indian counterparts, considering it an unforgettable memory for the entire delegation.
Reflecting on the special relationship between India and France, Macron mentioned the recent joint celebration of Bastille Day and the reciprocal visit during the 75th Republic Day. Earlier on the same day, Macron attended the Republic Day Parade as the chief guest at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was warmly greeted by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi upon his arrival at Kartavya Path, where French contingents marched alongside Indian forces during the parade.
