An event was held in Mumbai on March 5 by Federal Bank to announce their brand ambassador. The name of the celeb was kept a secret and the mediapersons found out about it only at the event that it is none other than Vidya Balan. The actress was her usual charming self as she talked about being the first brand ambassador of the reputed bank and a lot more.

Vidya Balan said, “Earlier, my father used to handle my finances. When I was getting married, he told me, ‘Now, let your husband handle your finances’. I said, ‘Hello? Where am I in all this?’ (laughs)! I asked him, ‘Why don’t you trust me in handling my own money?’. I guess Siddharth (Roy Kapur) is always there to advise and so is my father. But I wanted to start taking charge of my money. He reasoned, ‘You don’t know anything. You have never taken any interest’. I replied, ‘I’ll start now. And I started understanding’.”
She added, “My relationship with money started changing as I took charge. In fact, my money started growing (smiles).”
A journalist asked about where Vidya liked to invest. She replied, “I invest in diversified instruments. But I feel proud that I can talk about these things. 12 years ago, before my marriage, when my father had remarked that I was not interested in finances, I changed myself. Today, I know where I am investing my money and I make my own decisions. Sidharth and my father give me advice but the final call is mine under the guidance of my financial coach.”
Vidya Balan also revealed, “When The Dirty Picture was released in 2011, I got several endorsement offers, except for car and banking. Hence, I expressed the desire to be the brand ambassador for a bank. Bahut ajeeb tha ki koi bank se offer nahin aaya. My team spoke to a few banks. But bank after bank said, ‘We don’t want a woman brand ambassador’. This is because financial decisions are not made by women. Hence, I feel proud to be the brand ambassador of Federal Bank as that narrative is changing!”
She then quipped, “I hope there’s a car endorsement also soon (laughs). After all, we need to drive our own stories too. We need to be in charge of our narratives.”
