In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, actor Kunaal Roy Kapur shared how he landed the role of Nitin in the cult comedy Delhi Belly and his initial hesitation in taking it up.

Reflecting on his character, he said, “My role in Delhi Belly, the character was money-minded, selfish. He was quirky, liked to take photos of dead people, and put flowers on their heads.” Despite the unusual traits, Kunaal’s performance became one of the film’s highlights. “Sometimes you don’t have a choice to choose a role, you have to do it. I was directing a film at that time, The President, when the film was offered to me.” Balancing between acting and directing, he initially had doubts about committing to the project.
I was unsure until they said, ‘It’s an Aamir Khan film!’
Revealing how he was convinced, Kunaal said, “I was directing at that time, so I said I am not sure whether I can do it or not. So he says, ‘What are you talking about? It’s an Aamir Khan film! We are offering you one of the lead roles.’” The weight of the opportunity began to sink in, but he was still caught up in his own commitments.
I was in a rickshaw when they told me
Recalling the exact moment he made his decision, Kunaal shared, “I was in a rickshaw heading to some Film City to find out about some color grid or something. So I am not sure. The producer says, ‘Listen, brother, you have to do this.’ So I told him to send me the script.”

It was after reading the script that he fully realized what he was being offered. “When I read the script, I was like, is this the role they are offering me? I slapped myself and looked towards my wife—this is a crazy role! And then I am like, yes, I am on it.”
