Months after its release, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s action-drama film Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor continues to spark conversation. The latest addition to the discourse is actor Emraan Hashmi, who commended Kapoor’s performance in the film during a recent podcast appearance.

Emraan Impressed by Ranbir’s Conviction
Speaking with Subhankar Mishra on a podcast, Emraan Hashmi acknowledged that he doesn’t watch many films, but Animal was an exception. He went on to praise Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of a complex character, stating, “I don’t watch a lot of films but I have watched Animal and I think it was commendable how he played a character, with grey shades and not easy to like, with such conviction. This is commendable.”
Animal: Box Office Success with Controversy
While commercially successful, Animal also generated controversy for its portrayal of violence and its potentially misogynistic themes. The film follows a man returning from the US after an assassination attempt on his emotionally distant father. Seeking his father’s approval, the protagonist embarks on a violent revenge spree.
All-Star Cast and Upcoming Projects
The film boasts a star-studded cast featuring Ranbir Kapoor alongside Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, Suresh Oberoi, Shakti Kapoor, and Prem Chopra. Animal premiered on Netflix on January 26, 2024. Ranbir Kapoor’s next project is Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological epic Ramayana co-starring Sai Pallavi. Emraan Hashmi, meanwhile, has several films lined up, including They Call Him OG, G2, and the second season of his web series Showtime.
