An electric transport vehicle procured using the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund of Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) was contributed to the Government Mental Health Centre, Thiruvananthapuram. The vehicle will be used to transport food from the centre’s central kitchen to various wards.
The initiative was launched by the Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KELSA) as part of its NILAAV scheme to assist vulnerable sections of society facing mental health issues.
A. Muhamed Mustaque, Kerala High Court judge and executive chairman of KELSA, handed over the vehicle key to the District Medical Officer, Thiruvananthapuram, on Friday (January 31). C.S. Dias, High Court judge and chairman of the NILAAV steering committee, presided over the function.
P.N. Sampath Kumar, CSR head, CSL, attended.
“The NILAAV scheme aims to re-home and rehabilitate mental health centre inmates who are fit for discharge and can be reintegrated into their communities,” said C.S. Mohit, district judge and member secretary of KELSA.
