DU Students Return to Physical Classrooms Today: Delhi University (DU) has refuted claims circulating on social media about an alleged extension of online classes due to air quality concerns. The university clarified that regular offline classes for undergraduate and postgraduate students resumed today, November 25, 2024, as originally scheduled.
A fake notice, purportedly issued by DU, claimed that online classes would continue until November 28, 2024, due to deteriorating air quality in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).The forged document also mentioned that examination and interview schedules would remain unchanged. However, DU took to its official X (formerly Twitter) account to label the notice as “fake,” sharing an image of it with a bold watermark to alert students and staff.
Previous Misinformation on Winter Break
This isn’t the first instance of misinformation targeting DU students. Recently, another fabricated notice falsely claimed a winter break from November 19 to 27, citing severe air quality issues. The university promptly denied issuing such a directive and urged students to rely on official channels for accurate updates.
Official Statement on Resumption of Classes
DU reaffirmed that classes had switched to an online mode only until Saturday, November 23, 2024, in light of rising air pollution levels. According to the official notice, “Regular physical classes for all students will resume from Monday, November 25, 2024, while the schedule of examinations and interviews remains unchanged.”
Students are advised to remain cautious about misinformation and verify any updates directly from DU’s official platforms.
