As expected, Deva saw a drop in collections on Monday. This was on the cards as well since the trending of the film was rather flat and though there were little jumps from Friday to Saturday and then Sunday, they were regular incremental numbers that anyways happen on a day on day basis over the weekend as long as there is no outright rejection.
In case of Deva, there is acceptance at some key urban centres. Though it’s an action film, at the core of it it’s more of a content film and that’s what’s getting reflected in the appreciation and the collections. At certain premium multiplexes at major cities, especially in Maharashtra, the film is doing better due to the localised setting. That said, the film boasts of a bravura act from Shahid Kapoor and it certainly deserves better response in theatres.
The film collected Rs. 2.50 crores on Monday and that’s a little over 50% drop when compared to Monday collections of Rs. 5.78 crores. Hopefully there won’t be much of a drop from today till Thursday and an average of Rs. 2.25 crores will come on a daily basis. That will ensure that after bringing in Rs. 22.50 crores in its first four days so far, the first week will close around Rs. 30 crores mark.
