Delhi Nursery Admissions 2025: The Directorate of Education, Delhi, has officially announced the schedule for nursery admissions for the academic year 2025-2026. Private unaided recognised schools in Delhi are set to begin the admission process for entry-level classes such as Nursery, Pre-primary, and Class 1 from November 28, 2024. The admissions will be conducted for open seats, excluding the EWS/DG/CWSN (Economically Weaker Section, Disadvantaged Group, and Children with Special Needs) category.
Admission Process: Key Dates and Timeline
The admission process for the upcoming academic session will follow a well-structured timeline to ensure fairness and transparency. The dates for the crucial stages of the process have been set as follows:
Age Criteria and Relaxation
As per the guidelines, the minimum age for children applying for Nursery should be three years, for Pre-Primary (KG) it should be four years, and for Class 1, it should be five years as of March 31, 2025. The upper age limit for each class has also been defined. For Nursery, children must be under four years; for Pre-Primary (KG), children must be under five years, and for Class 1, the child must be under six years. Schools have been granted the flexibility to offer a relaxation of up to 30 days in the age limit upon the request of parents.
Admission Criteria: Transparency is Key
All private unaided recognised schools are required to upload their admission criteria and the associated point system on the official Delhi Directorate of Education website by November 25, 2024. Schools must also display this information on their own websites and notice boards. Schools will award points based on various criteria such as neighbourhood proximity, sibling admission, and parent alumni status.
Fees and Additional Guidelines
Parents are reminded that only a non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 25 will be charged at the time of submission of the admission form. The purchase of the school’s prospectus is optional and should not be forced upon parents. Moreover, schools are strictly prohibited from collecting any capitation fees or donations for admission, and any violation of this rule will attract severe penalties.
Important Instructions for Schools
Schools must ensure they adhere to the guidelines set out by the Directorate of Education. This includes ensuring that the seats available for admission are accurately declared and verified. Additionally, the process for admission must be fair, reasonable, and transparent, and must be conducted under video surveillance if a draw of lots is necessary. The list of selected candidates, along with the points allotted to them, must be displayed on the school’s website and the Directorate’s portal for public viewing.
Ensuring Fair and Transparent Admissions for All
A significant percentage of seats—25%—in every private unaided recognised school must be reserved for children from the EWS/DG and CWSN categories, in accordance with the Right to Education Act, 2009. Additionally, schools must comply with all provisions under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, to ensure that children with disabilities have equal access to education.
The Delhi Nursery Admissions 2025 process is poised to begin on November 28, 2024, and will follow a comprehensive and transparent schedule. Parents are urged to keep track of important dates, ensure their child meets the age criteria, and familiarise themselves with the admission guidelines provided by the schools. For any queries or concerns, schools are required to provide adequate support and responses. The admissions process aims to ensure that every child in Delhi has the opportunity to access quality early education, irrespective of their background.
