Bottega Veneta is undergoing a reorganization involving its marketing department and the Asia-Pacific region. The luxury brand, part of the Kering group, has announced three promotions within its top management line, effective from July 1. Dario Gargiulo, currently the chief marketing & digital business officer, has been named as the new managing director for Greater China, succeeding Mauro Malta, who held the position since 2018.
The Greater China region includes mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. According to a statement by the brand, Gargiulo’s mission will be “to enhance the brand positioning and customer experience in the region.” The company acknowledges Gargiulo’s extensive marketing expertise and deep knowledge of the brand, which will be instrumental in achieving their objectives.
Dario Gargiulo has been active in the luxury and multinational consumer goods industry for 20 years. He began his career at Missoni before transitioning to Heineken, where he held various marketing positions for 12 years in Italy, the Netherlands, and Brazil. In 2015, he joined the Italian denim brand Diesel as the marketing director, a role he held until 2018 when he joined Bottega Veneta as chief marketing & digital business officer, paving the way for his advancement within the company.
Another promotion goes to Samuel Diep, who joined Bottega Veneta in 2020 as the head of merchandising. Diep previously made notable contributions at Loewe and Saint Laurent, where he handled merchandising for collections as well as retail. More recently, he led the merchandising team in China for Celine in 2019.
Diep has now been promoted to the position of director of merchandising and marketing at Bottega Veneta. “Under his leadership, Bottega Veneta will further align product and brand strategies while supporting regions in executing global and local initiatives,” said the brand.
Ellen Kim, the current managing director of the Japan-Guam and South Korea region, will now expand her responsibilities to oversee the entire APAC region, including Southeast Asia. Kim joined Bottega Veneta in 2016 after working in various roles at Chanel in Korea for 10 years. She quickly climbed the ranks, initially overseeing only the South Korea market. With past experience at Louis Vuitton and Loewe in her home country of Korea, Kim brings valuable expertise to her expanded role within Bottega Veneta.
In 2022, Bottega Veneta achieved a revenue of 1.74 billion euros, marking a 16% growth (11% on a comparable basis) despite weak sales in North America and China. In the first quarter of the current year, the brand’s revenue remained stable at 395 million euros compared to the same period in 2022.
