Nagpur: An ugly spat erupted between a police officer and a civilian over an issue of overcrowding at an accident spot at Teacher’s Colony on Bahadura Road on Friday. The civilian, Baba Bokade, was booked by Wathoda police, who initiated stringent action against him.
Wathoda police, under night officer sub-inspector (PSI) Krushna Solanke, were investigating the accidental death of a two-wheeler rider, Ashwin Gedam, who fell into a water-filled trench the previous night and drowned in it. Gedam had fallen into the trench along with his two-wheeler.
Solanke was miffed with Bokade, the husband of a former gram panchayat member, for standing at the accident spot along with his supporters. Enraged after being told to leave the spot, Bokade attacked Solanke before he was overpowered and taken to the police station for action.
