To equip students with 21st-century skills, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) has introduced six new subjects for the 2025 academic year. Five subjects – Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Applied Mathematics, Modern English, and Bhutia Language – will be offered for classes 11 and 12. Bhutia Language will also be available for classes 9 and 10.

Previously offered as a combined subject, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence will now be separate options for ISC students. They can choose these subjects alongside Computer Science, gaining comprehensive foundational skills and vertical mobility.

Applied Mathematics and Modern English provide alternatives to core Mathematics and standard English with a focus on practical application. Applied Mathematics caters to non-STEM fields with an emphasis on financial mathematics, statistics, and data analysis. Modern English emphasises functional communication, contemporary language use, and practical linguistic skills.

The details of the syllabi for the new subjects have been incorporated in the recently released “Regulations and Syllabuses” for ICSE & ISC Level for the upcoming academic year, available on the CISCE website,” the official notice read.

The ICSE exams are being held at 11 am and 9 am and the ISC exams from 9 AM and 2 PM. Students are given 15 minutes to read the question paper.
