The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will introduce a global curriculum for foreign students starting in the 2026-27 academic year. The decision was made during a meeting led by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In this high-level meeting, which included officials and representatives from CBSE global schools, Pradhan discussed the plans and steps needed to develop and implement the new curriculum.

“Today, the Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, chaired a high-level meeting with the Secretary, DoSEL; Secretary, ER; MEA; and heads of CBSE, NCERT, KVS, and NVS, along with representatives of global schools. The modalities of establishing and implementing the CBSE Global Curriculum were discussed in detail, and CBSE was directed to launch the CBSE Global Curriculum for Foreign Schools from 2026-2027 and to prepare a detailed action plan accordingly,” CBSE said in a post on X on Tuesday.

Earlier yesterday, the Education Minister announced that the draft plan for holding board exams twice a year would be shared with the public soon. He emphasised the government’s aim to create a stress-free learning environment for students, stating that exam reforms and improvements are key steps toward achieving this goal.

“Creating a stress-free learning environment for students has been an important focus of the government. Examination improvement and reform are key steps towards this. Taking this a step further, I held detailed deliberations with the Secretary of School Education, the CBSE Chairperson, and other officials of the Ministry and CBSE over the ‘Conduct of CBSE Examinations Twice a Year.’ The draft scheme from these discussions will soon be placed for public consultation by CBSE. This reform is another crucial step towards implementing key provisions of the NEP and will help mitigate exam-related stress among students,” Pradhan said in a post on X.
