NEW DELHI: Captain Shweta Singh has been appointed chief flight operations inspector (CFOI) in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) — making it the first time a woman pilot has been appointed to this position. Captain Singh, deputy FOI, was given additional charge of the top position by DGCA chief Vikram Dev Dutt a day after he removed Captain Vivek Chhabra as CFOI in “public interest and on basis of confidential inputs.”
Captain Singh started her career as a pilot with Jet Airways. She has spent several years in DGCA and has handled several audits by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
