Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film Raid 2 is set to release on May 1. The spiritual sequel to the 2018 film Raid continues its exploration of corruption, power, and intense drama, with Ajay Devgn reprising his role as Income Tax officer Amay Patnaik. He will be up against his formidable opponent, Dadabhai, played by Riteish Deshmukh. Produced by T-Series and Panorama Studios, the film is generating a lot of buzz. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, T-Series head Bhushan Kumar praised Devgn’s performance and also made an intriguing revelation about their next collaboration, Dhamaal 4.

Discussing how Ajay Devgn agreed to take a pay cut for the upcoming comic caper Dhamaal 4, Bhushan Kumar shared, “We share a very good relationship. He’s a producer’s actor. Whenever you’re working on a film together, he makes you feel so comfortable. For instance, Dhamaal 4 was turning out to be a heavy-budget film. He told us that he’ll reduce his fee just so that we could make the film. He’s not like other actors. He understands producers. He always gives the first priority to the film.”
Reflecting on their eight-year-long professional relationship, the producer continued, “I’ve had a long-standing bond with him. We did Tanhaji, Raid, and Drishyam. Our collaboration began with Baadshaho. We’re now doing Dhamaal 4. De De Pyaar De 2 is also happening. I know that this association will continue for years to come. I’ve also done the music for most of his films. We’ll be releasing the music of Son Of Sardaar 2 as well.”
While Kumar praises Devgn, Panorama Studios’ Abhishek Pathak, who also produced Raid 2, shares his experience of directing him in Drishyam 2. Although Drishyam 2 was just his second film as a director, Pathak reveals that Devgn never interfered with his creative process. Pathak stated, “Ajay sir’s a director’s actor. He never gets or interferes with the creative side of making a film. If he believes in the script and the director, he’ll never come to the monitor and tell you what to do. This has been my experience of directing him on Drishyam 2.”
Pathak’s long-standing association with Devgn spans decades, and he praises the actor-filmmaker for his guidance without being overbearing. Referring to him as “the most secure actor,” Pathak shared, “I’ve known him since I was a child. The first time I met him, I was in school. He’s like a big brother to me. I’ve seen his journey. I’ve worked on his films as an AD and as a production guy. When I started working as a producer with him, I had this fear of how he’s going to be since he’s such a senior actor. But throughout the process of the shoot of Drishyam 2, he didn’t come to the monitor even once. He just came to me once and asked me if I’m doing okay.”
On a related note, Raid 2 is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta and also stars Vaani Kapoor.
