Now, director Nitesh Tiwari has heaped immense praise for her portrayal of Nisha in their highly anticipated next, Bawaal. Tiwari, celebrated for his directorial successes with films such as Dangal and Chhichhore, highlighted her talent in conveying profound emotions through silence. He expressed his belief that Kapoor’s silent moments in the film convey a wealth of meaning and depth, leaving an indelible impact on viewers.
When discussing the casting of Janhvi’s character Nisha, Tiwari revealed to a publication in Dubai, “For me, Nisha needed to be someone whose eyes speak more than she would and someone who would look extremely vulnerable in certain situations. Apart from what Janhvi can bring to the table as an actor, her physical attributes were also important to me. I think if you look at her in the film, her silence speaks a lot.”
Tiwari believes that Kapoor’s portrayal of Nisha will leave a lasting impact on the audience, as her silent glances effectively communicate the character’s inner turmoil and vulnerability.
For the unversed, Bawaal revolves around Ajay Dixit, an ordinary albeit popular high school history teacher Ajay Dixit, also known as Ajju bhaiya, who enjoys mini celebrityhood in his town, courtesy the fake image he has built about himself. Circumstances compel him to embark on World War II trail in Europe, and he is forced to take along his newly-wed wife Nisha, with whom he shares a strained relationship. What follows is a series of events that test his marriage and force him to confront the biggest war of them all- the war within. The film is shot in India and multiple international locales.
Bawaal is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment in collaboration with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari’s Earthsky Pictures. The film will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in India on July 21.
