Rajiv Bajaj will continue as Bajaj Auto’s managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) for another five-year term, effective April 1, 2025. His reappointment has been approved by the company’s Board of Directors.

Rajiv Bajaj will continue as MD and CEO till 2030
Rajiv Bajaj has been instrumental in introducing Bajaj Auto to the motorcycle market, a segment he believed had great growth potential. This decision changed the face of Bajaj Auto and greatly accelerated the company’s growth.
In 2005, Rajiv Bajaj was voted Autocar Professional‘s Man of the Year for leading the company’s transition from a scooter manufacturer to a leading motorcycle OEM. He strongly believes in a brand-led business strategy, as seen in the Pulsar brand and other motorcycle models, as well as in his strong engagement in the global two-wheeler market.
In the first 11 months of the current fiscal, Bajaj Auto has sold over 21 lakh two-wheelers in the domestic market, up 3.27 percent YoY, and exported over 15.4 lakh units, marking an increase of 14.52 percent YoY. While the company is currently ranked third in the domestic motorcycle market in FY2025, with an 18 percent market share, it remains the No. 1 two-wheeler exporter.
In the scooter market, where it sells a single product line – the Chetak EV – Bajaj Auto has sold over 2 lakh units in the past 11 months, an increase of 123 percent year on year.
About Rajiv Bajaj
Rajiv Bajaj graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune in 1988. He later completed his Master’s in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from the University of Warwick in 1990.
Upon returning from the UK, he started at the shop floor level at Bajaj Auto, where he completed a three-year stint. He gained experience in Manufacturing and Supply Chain (1990-95), R&D and Engineering (1995-2000), and Marketing and Sales (2000-2005), and rose to the position of managing director of Bajaj Auto in April 2005. He has been a member of the Board of Bajaj Auto since March 5, 2002.
