It’s all over for Baby John. Whatever hopes that remained for the Varun Dhawan starrer have been dashed, what with Saturday failing to bring in any substantial numbers. Not that there was any sign of resurgence till Friday, either with the film seeing continues drop in collections since it’s Wednesday release. Still, to get to some sort of a milestone, the film needed to grow on Saturday and Sunday. With that not happening either and the collections staying flat, and that too at very low levels, it’s over and out for the film.
The film brought in mere Rs. 4 crores on Saturday, which means that not just the Wednesday collections of Rs. 11.25 crores will stay on to be the best ever for the film, there won’t be any more double digit numbers coming either in its run. Had the film shown terrific jump on Saturday, then there would have been a chance to somehow touch Rs. 10 crores mark on Sunday. However, with the Kalees directed action drama not moving at all on Saturday, its hopes for Sunday have also been quashed.
The Christmas release has now collected Rs. 23.63 crores and the film will now barely cross Rs. 30 crores mark by the close of its extended five-day weekend. Post that one can expect collections to come down to very low numbers from Monday onwards, and that means that there is now a real threat to Baby John that it may not even manage a lifetime of Rs. 50 crores.
Very disappointing.
