Australia To No Longer Accept TOEFL Scores For Visa Purposes IELTS PTE Scores Remain Valid

The official website of Australia’s Department of Home Affairs stated that TOEFL iBT will not be available as an English language test option for Australian visas until further notice.

Previously, TOEFL scores were accepted, but this will change from the specified date.

Currently, Australia continues to accept scores from International English Language Testing System (IELTS) including One Skill Retake (OSR), Pearson Test of English (PTE), Cambridge English (CAE) (also known as C1 Advanced) and Occupational English Test (OET), designed specifically for health professionals

It’s important to note that for Australian visa purposes, IELTS test results that include OSR will be accepted, with the exception of applications for subclasses 476, 482, and 485, which require scores from a single sitting or attempt.

Moreover, certain test takers can avail the IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) option. This allows them to retake one of the four test components – reading, writing, speaking, or listening – once only, as stated in the official notification.
