Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar recently reflected on one of his most iconic yet over-the-top steps—the pelvic thrust. In a conversation with Exhibit Magazine, the actor admitted that while the move was once considered the epitome of cool, looking back, he can’t help but laugh at its exaggerated nature.

A Move That Defined the 90s
The 1990s saw Bollywood brimming with high-energy dance numbers, and Akshay Kumar, with his action-hero persona, was no exception. Among the many dance trends of the era, the pelvic thrust gained immense popularity, thanks to its exaggerated execution in hit songs. Talking about it, Akshay said, “Back then, it was all the rage, and we did it with so much confidence, thinking it was the coolest thing ever.”
Nostalgia or Embarrassment?
With time, dance styles in Bollywood have evolved, making certain moves from the past seem outdated or even unintentionally funny. Akshay acknowledged this shift, saying, “Now, when I look back at it, I can’t help but laugh at how over-the-top it was. It’s one of those moves that should probably stay in the 90s.”
However, despite the change in trends, the actor hinted that he might still bring the move back under the right circumstances. “If the music’s right and the energy’s high, you might just catch me pulling it off again, purely for nostalgia, of course!” he said.
Coming to the professional front, Akshay recently released ‘Mahakal Chalo,’ a video music, on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. Besides this, he also attended the press conference for an upcoming Pan-India project, Kannappa. In addition to this, he has a bunch of projects scheduled to release this year, including Welcome To The Jungle, and Housefull 5 among others.
