Hyundai Creta Electric or MG Windsor: which EV should you buy?

Hyundai Creta Electric or MG Windsor: which EV should you buy?

MG Windsor is more affordable than Creta Electric, but the latter is larger and a very well-rounded EV.

After test driving more-or-less all electric cars in the Rs 15 lakh-20 lakh range, I’ve shortlisted the entry-level Hyundai Creta Electric and top-spec MG Windsor EV. Even though the MG is excellent value and the cabin feels very luxurious, my family is more inclined towards the Creta Electric, since we’ve only had good experiences with Hyundai in the past. Which EV do you suggest?

Autocar India says: Thanks to the MG Windsor EV’s clever packaging, the cabin is extremely spacious; its reclining backseat ups the comfort a few notches. It is well equipped, and as you’ve rightly mentioned, it delivers maximum bang for the buck. Since there are very few buttons in the cabin, and all key functions are located on the (rather slow) touchscreen, the user experience is a bit unintuitive. Cabin insulation could also have been better, and the suspension can feel a bit crashy at city speeds. However, the MG Windsor is such a solid proposition, you’re likely to easily look past these shortcomings.

On the other hand, the Creta Electric is a fantastic, well-rounded electric vehicle which carries forward all the strengths of the standard Creta. Yes, it isn’t as spacious (particularly at the rear), its steering is heavier, and despite being a bit pricier, its base variant isn’t as well-equipped as the top-spec Windsor EV. But if these aren’t dealbreakers for you, go ahead with the Creta Electric as you won’t go wrong with it.
