It’s game on for Kesari – Chapter 2. For the film to do well at the box office, it needed to show jump over its Friday collections of Rs. 7.84 crores. Since it was a partial holiday of Good Friday then, typical Saturday growth wasn’t going to be very easy and just maintaining similar numbers as Friday would have been the usual trend. However, the Akshay Kumar starrer is expensive as well as prestigious and hence had to do much better than the usual trend.
Well, this is what happened as the film actually saw Saturday growth coming its way, what with Rs. 10.08 crores coming in and the two-day total standing at Rs. 17.92 crores. While the growth itself is good, the fact that double digit numbers have been touched as well is an added bonus. Moreover, had Friday not been a partial holiday then the real value numbers would have been around Rs. 5.50 crores. This means that Saturday has almost doubled up over that which is a very good trend.
What’s required now is for this trend to continue today as well and if there is further growth today with around Rs. 13 crores more coming in then one can be assured that weekdays are going to be super strong for the film. The film has been battling double duals of IPL on Saturday as well as Sunday, niche subject and A certificate and still if such kind of numbers come in then it would be a testimony to the fact that Karan Singh Tyagi and Karan Johar have made a film which has truly touched hearts of the Indians.
