Jaat has done well in its first week. Released on Thursday, the film got 8 days for itself and made the most of it with several partial holidays and also theatre offers during its run. As a result, it has managed to cross Rs. 60 crores mark at the box office, something that many would have pegged as its lifetime score till a day before release.
An out and out massy film, this one is for the interiors and the single screens, which goes on to show that the footfalls are much higher than what a core multiplex film would have gathered had the collections been similar. As a matter of fact, the scenario would have been all the more different for the film had multiplexes at major cities also joined the party. Yes, situation was better when compared to how the film had opened at premium properties on Thursday. Still, the film didn’t quite fire away as was expected out of it due to its entertaining commercial content.
Nonetheless, it has hung on well out there, as seen with Thursday collections of Rs. 4.27 crores, which are better than the day before when Rs. 4 crores had come in. Today being the partial holiday of Good Friday in some parts of the country, Thursday evening and night shows benefitted. As a result, the total of the film now stands at Rs. 62.24 crores. The film has got good showcasing for itself and if the second weekend brings out around Rs. 18-10 crores then there is a real chance of the Sunny Deol starrer hitting a century.
