Real Madrid forwards Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo’s latest social media posts suggest they’re ready to take on Arsenal on Thursday, eyeing a ‘Remontada’.
The Los Blancos suffered a 0-3 defeat to The Gunners in the first leg of their 2024/25 Champions League quarter-final. Carlo Ancelotti’s men now have one last chance of closing the tie by pulling off a comeback at the Santiago Bernabeu on April 17.
The Brazilian wingers remain undeterred, exuding confidence about Real Madrid’s chances of qualifying for the next stage online.
Vinicius initially posted a photograph from his team’s training session in his recent Instagram story.
“9 PM Tomorrow,” he wrote in Spanish.
Rodrygo then followed suit, writing on X with a post captioned, “See you tomorrow”.
This isn’t the first time Vinicius Junior expressed his excitement for the second leg of the 2024/25 Champions League quarter-final.
Earlier this week, the Brazilian sent another message on Instagram stating that the team was already focused on their home fixture.
Vinicius claimed Real Madrid were ready and would give everything to turn the deficit around. “Already thinking about Wednesday! We’re ready and looking forward to it. We’ll be waiting for you at the Bernabéu, and we’ll give it everything we’ve got. We are Real. Hala Madrid!” he wrote.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal outplayed Real Madrid at the Emirates Stadium on April 9.
The Premier League outfit was on the attack from the get-go, eventually finding the breakthrough after a goalless first half. Declan Rice stunned fans with a near-perfect freekick that sailed past Thibaut Courtois into the top bin. The 26-year-old English midfielder scored a second one from the spot 12 minutes later to extend Arsenal’s lead. Mikel Merino added a third in minute 75 to help his team take a huge advantage in the knockout tie.
Jude Bellingham opened up about Real Madrid’s defeat to Arsenal in the post-match conference and opined his team could still compete.
“I think what makes us confident is the quality we have, the history of the club, the fans who will turn up and give everything on the night, the aura of the Bernabeu in these Champions League nights, that’s always something,” he said.
Carlo Ancelotti will now have to work around the France international Camavinga’s absence for the home fixture as well, to capitalise on their shot at making the semi-finals.
