The Diplomat saw some growth coming on Saturday and that’s a good sign because the collections could as well have dropped since it was Holi holiday on Friday. Also, if the word of mouth wouldn’t have been good then the footfalls would have anyways come down steeply, something that one has seen for number of films which arrive with a BOGO or discounted tickets offer on Friday and then face a decline when regular ticket prices come into action.
Something similar could have happened here as the scenario was similar with regular day coming into picture, though the fact also remains that it was Saturday and such content oriented films anyways see a good rise in collections if there is acceptance. So from that perspective, things did even out eventually. That said, had the jump been better and Rs. 5 crores mark been crossed then that would have set up the John Abraham starrer even more neatly.
In this case, the collections have gone from Rs. 4.03 crores on Friday to Rs. 4.68 crores on Saturday and hence all eyes are on the kind of numbers that come in today. If Rs. 6 crores mark is crossed today then that would set the Shivam Nair directed film better as it would give it a chance to register collections in the whereabouts of Rs. 3 crores on Monday, which would be a very good hold compared to Friday. So far, the film has collected Rs. 8.71 crores and the weekend collections would be on Rs. 14-15 crores range.
