Danish premium footwear brand Ecco plans to reach a total of 25 exclusive brand outlets in India by the end of next year with a focus on the country’s largest malls and metro high streets. The brand aims to cater to the growing demand for premium footwear in the country.

“As a family-owned company, we take a long-term view when it comes to India,” Ecco’s regional director for South East Asia and the Pacific Patrick Iversen told the Times of India in an interview. “While we are keen to establish a strong presence here, we will evaluate our progress over a number of years rather than taking a short-term perspective. Currently we have six stores, but most of them have only recently opened. Our goal is to expand to 25 stores by the end of next year.”
Ecco entered the Indian market in 2019 and recently counts an outlet in Mumbai’s Phoenix Palladium. The brand has witnessed significant growth since debuting in the country, attributed to the rising affluence of Indian consumers and their increasing interest in premium brands. Repeat customers currently account for 50% of Ecco’s sales in India, indicating strong brand loyalty, ET Retail reported.
Ecco’s India expansion strategy includes establishing a robust presence in key retail hubs across India’s top six cities. By the end of 2026, Ecco plans to have a significant footprint in all major malls, enhancing accessibility for its target audience. The brand’s long-term vision extends beyond the initial 25 stores, with plans to further expand by 2030.
“It takes time to understand consumer sentiment, and we want to invest heavily in the brand through marketing and other initiatives,” said Iversen. Ecco is known for its comfort driven footwear and also retails accessories, according to its Facebook page.
