Two Northeastern students from Delhi University were allegedly subjected to a brutal, racially charged assault. Nabam Barka and Tadam Debom, both from Arunachal Pradesh, were on their way to drop off friends when the incident happened.

It all started with a verbal exchange laced with racial slurs. When the students pushed back against the offensive comments, the situation escalated into a full-blown physical attack. They were assaulted by a group of ten people, before being rushed to a nearby hospital, where they underwent medical examinations, including a CT scan.

Nabam Barka, one of the victims, shared a video on social media, recounting the horrifying attack. In the video, he appeals to the Arunachal Pradesh government to step in and ensure justice is served.

“Look, these people are going to kill us,” says one of the students on video as he pans the camera towards a group of men with sticks in their hands.

As the video goes on, he urges, “All agencies and NGOs of Arunachal in Delhi see how they have tried to kill me today. Ten people beat us up.”

“I was attacked on my head and I can’t understand anything,” he continues, with blood streaming down his face.

Towards the end of the video, he makes a desperate appeal to the Arunachal Pradesh government, urging them “to put an end to this”.

Following the attack, the Arunachal Students Union of Delhi (ASUD) stepped in and raised the issue with Delhi Police’s special unit for the northeastern region. They also assisted the victims in seeking legal action and called on the public to avoid spreading misinformation that could further inflame tensions.
