Mahindra Thar Roxx waiting period and Thar delivery time in February 2025

The Mahindra Thar Roxx continues to see great demand in the Indian market, even six months after its launch in August last year. Despite Mahindra having increased production capacity of the Thar – combined, over 9,000 units of the Thar 3-door and Roxx 5-door are being produced monthly in a 30:70 split – delivery times continue to be on the higher side, with buyers having to wait up to 18 months for select variants.

  1. Thar Roxx MX1 and AX7L 4×4 trims waiting period is 18 months
  2. Mid-spec Thar Roxx variants have delivery times of 6-10 months
  3. Mahindra Thar 3-door waiting periods stand between 2.25-5 months

Mahindra Thar variant-wise waiting period

The Thar 3-door commands a waiting period of up to 5 months at the moment, with the 4WD Convertible Hard Top trim having the longest delivery time. The 4WD Hard Top petrol and diesel trims have waiting periods of up to 3 months, along with the RWD Hard Top diesel. Buyers of the Thar Hard Top petrol in RWD form will have to wait a little over 2 months for delivery of their new model. Compared to Thar waiting periods in October 2024, delivgery times are marginally longer, depending on the variant.

The Mahindra Thar range is currently priced between Rs 11.50 lakh and Rs 17.60 lakh. It shares the 6-speed manual and torque convertor automatic gearboxes and the 2.0-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine and 2.2-litre diesel engine with the Roxx, albeit in lower states of tune. The 3-door model also comes with an entry-level 1.5-litre diesel engine as an option, though only in manual form.

Mahindra Thar Roxx 1.5-year waiting period continues despite production increase

It should be noted that compared to October last year, when the waiting period for the Thar Roxx was still about 1.5 years (18 months), Mahindra had stated that it was producing about 6,500 units of the lifestyle SUV (in 3-door and 5-door body styles) every month. Despite the production capacity having now crossed 9,000 units a month – and 70 percent allocated to the 5-door – the waiting period has remained the same, indicating continuous high demand for the Mahindra Thar Roxx.
