Entrepreneur and daughter of Indian billionaire Kumar Mangalam Birla Ananya Birla has announced her debut in the beauty and cosmetics market, launching a new business with the plan to release numerous brands in Indian stores this calendar year.
“With greater exposure to global products and knowledge, Indian consumers now demand more from home-grown brands,” said Ananya Birla, the Press Trust of India reported. “This venture aims to meet those expectations with authenticity and innovation and bring world-class products to the Indian marketplace.”
Focusing on beauty and personal care, Birla plans to build brands for new age Indian consumers which will level up the shopping experience, ET Bureau reported. Birla’s venture will cater to numerous consumer demographics and will include phased launches of product categories including fragrances and colour cosmetics. Birla plans to create international quality products and is open to global expansion for the venture in the future.
Ananya Birla is aged 30 and launched her first venture at 17 as a micro-lending business named Svatantra Microfin. Birla is a member of the board of Aditya Birla Group’s main strategic body and is also a musician.
