In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor shared candid insights into his thoughts on generational differences, the impact of social media, and the challenges of modern-day living.

Every generation faces its own set of challenges
Shahid expressed a refreshing perspective on the ongoing debate about generational gaps. “I don’t belong to that mindset that ‘hamara time bohot acha tha’ and ‘aaj kal ke bache,’ I don’t think that that makes any sense because when we were of that age, our parents felt the same,” he said, highlighting that each generation faces its unique set of challenges. “Every generation has its own set of challenges, we had ours, and they have theirs,” he added thoughtfully.
Technology overload
The actor, also spoke candidly about his relationship with technology. Reflecting on his increasing screen time, he confessed, “I have realized that I am on my phone for a longer time, I should interact with people instead. Don’t want to talk to them while I am on my device.” Shahid acknowledged the drawbacks of living in an era dominated by devices and social media, admitting the temptation of constant connectivity.
Age of social media
Shahid acknowledged the pressures it can bring. “It is not easy living in a world with so much social media, to be so aware of everything that exists around,” he said, alluding to the challenges people face in managing their mental well-being amidst constant digital awareness.
It’s natural for the mind to compare
Shahid reflected on the human tendency to compare oneself to others, particularly in today’s world. “It is not possible for you to not compare yourself with somebody else, it is natural for the mind to work like that,” he shared, offering a relatable take on self-perception in the age of social media.
